The school was named after Mrs Annie Vose, an elementary teacher who taught the nearby McKay School for 32 years. The first phase consisted of eight classrooms, and was described at the time as looking like “a big Easter hat” by a teacher quoted in The Oregonian. A second phase was completed in 1962, and added a further 9 classrooms, as well as a gym and library.

Docomomo Oregon toured the Vose School on June 23rd, 2016, shortly before its demolition.
