Description: This bank building continued the United States National Bank of Portland’s tradition of commissioning skilled Oregon architects to design notable, if not somewhat restrained, branch locations. The Seaside branch was drawn up by Astoria native Ebba Wicks Brown and her husband, Ernest Brown, following a fruitful professional partnership with her father, architect John E. Wicks. The building has a relatively simple plan but is distinguished by its asymmetrical roof, which rises above the banking hall and overhangs a broad bank of windows along S Downing Street.
